Our Mission
The College Station Latin Mass Society was founded in 2025 by a group of Aggie Catholics from across campus who recognized a need for traditional liturgy in Brazos County. We are dedicated to promoting traditional Catholic worship and aim to establish a regular Latin Mass in College Station, Texas.
As the nation’s first student-run organization of its kind, we are a growing community for hundreds of students, alumni, and local faithful. The Society is led by members of the TAMU Chapter of Juventutem Foederatio Internationalis, an international movement of young Catholics devoted to the TLM.
The Vision: More Than Just A Mass
Our goal extends far beyond organizing occasional Latin Masses.
We are working to establish a full traditional parish life in the Bryan-College Station area.

Who runs the College Station TLM Society?
This society was founded in 2025 by students of Texas A&M University and is entirely student-led and student-managed. The student officers and members handle day-to-day operations, event planning, and leadership.
The society operates as the Texas A&M chapter of Juventutem, an international Catholic young-adult organization dedicated to promoting the Church’s traditional Latin liturgy and fostering authentic Catholic life among those aged roughly 18–35.

Who Celebrates our Masses?
The College Station Latin Mass Society is not directly affiliated with any single traditional Catholic group or organization.
We routinely invite and welcome priests from a variety of backgrounds to serve in College Station, whether they belong to the SSPX, FSSP, diocesan clergy, or other approved priestly communities.

What is the Traditional Latin Mass (TLM)?
The Traditional Latin Mass, also known as the Usus Antiquior or the Mass of St. Pius V, is the liturgy codified by Pope St. Pius V in 1570 following the Council of Trent.
It is celebrated entirely in Latin, ad orientem (the priest facing the altar), with Gregorian Chant, and includes the Roman Canon, unchanged for over 1,400 years.
It is the same Mass attended by saints like Thomas Aquinas, Ignatius of Loyola, and Thérèse of Lisieux.

Is the Latin Mass still allowed?
Yes. Pope Benedict XVI declared in Summorum Pontificum (2007) that the Traditional Latin Mass was “never abrogated” and is an “extraordinary form” of the Roman Rite.
While Traditionis Custodes (2021) restricted its celebration, it remains fully valid, licit, and a treasure of the Church.
Many bishops continue to grant faculties, and faithful Catholics have a right under canon law (Can. 214) to the sacraments in the traditional form.

Why do we prefer the Traditional Latin Mass?
As Pope St. Pius X taught: “Let nothing new be introduced, but only what has been handed down.” The TLM preserves:
The sense of sacred mystery through silence, incense, and Latin
Continuity with 2,000 years of Catholic worship
Christ-centered focus with the priest and people facing God together
Protection from liturgical abuse through its precise rubrics
